HSBC adopts TraderMade's mobile solutions
HSBC has selected analytics vendor Tradermade International to help deliver real-time charts and quotes via mobile devices for its global treasury staff.

Available on BlackBerry, mobile phone and PDA, TM-Cell offers a mobile window into the recent price action of a number of FX rates, precious metals, commodities, futures and stock indices. No software needs to be downloaded onto the device and a simple bookmarked page enables quick and easy access.

Communication costs are also kept to a minimum due to the efficient delivery mechanism of the chart images.

"It’s one thing to see real-time market prices on your mobile device, but it's a real bonus to be able to view a chart of the last few hours," said Alan Clarke, Global Head of E-commerce FX at HSBC. "With their high-quality data and innovative technology, TraderMade have enabled us to equip our staff with the information they require, 24/7."

Paddy Osborn, TraderMade's Global Head of Sales, added that the agreement "… demonstrates our policy to broaden and strengthen existing relationships with the world's top banks. Dealers see the same charts and data, whether on their desktop TraderMade service, their e-commerce platform, or their mobile device. We believe that consistency of data quality and service delivery across different technologies is key to meeting the demands of the market today."

TraderMade Redesigns for New Users
UK-based data and charting vendor TraderMade has released two additions to its TraderMade404 range of terminals.

TraderMade404 Professional offers extra functionality for high-end professional users, while The Cube is a Web-based Java interface that provides a migration path from other TraderMade solutions.

Professional gives users the ability to script their own formulas and analytical tools in Visual Basic and apply them to the TraderMade data to create their own charts. It also allows users to download data via the screen's toolbar. This option exports high/low, open/close and volume data into CSV files such as Excel spreadsheets, on which users can run their own analyses and models.

The new product also offers additional futures functionality, such as tick charts and the ability to plot continuation charts and choose different criteria for fixing contract rollover dates.

Sales director Paddy Osborn says TraderMade is initially looking to win between a dozen and two dozen licenses from the most sophisticated analysts.

Osborn says The Cube is designed to provide a charting tool with all the portability and flexibility of a Web browser. This should make it easier and quicker for firms' internal IT departments to roll out to users. It can also be used to replace other TraderMade products that are more expensive for both customers and TraderMade to operate. It contains the same level of charting functionality as the Intermediate product. However, Osborn says the plan is to incorporate all the 404 functionality into The Cube.
